Charumathi Raghuraman, violinist in the Carnatic, South Indian musical tradition, is one of the premier young virtuosos of today. Seeing an inborn musical awareness at the tender age of five, she had her initial training with gurus, Smt. T.R. Balamani and Sri. N. Krishnan in Bombay. Soon thereafter, the iconic violinist of South India, Sri. T. N. Krishnan noticed her precocious talent and ever since Charumathi has been an ardent disciple of the great violinist. Her playing is marked by wonderful sensitivity and excellent technique. To her credit, she also studies Carnatic vocal music with the great teacher Sri. P.S. Narayanaswami in Chennai, India. 'Lyrical, sensitive, creative reflecting acumen, aesthetically elegant, poised, graceful...' are some of the accolades showered on her by media reviews. She can be found performing with leading exponents of Carnatic music on several commercial recordings.
